(VOC) is a national foundation dedicated to the
eradication of hereditary childhood blindness
and vision disorders in industrialized nations.
Dimension One is proud to announce that they have
selected VOC as their corporate philanthropy,
and are committed to helping VOC in their efforts
to achieve their goal.
"D1 Spas continually prides itself on
being an industry leader and had been searching
for a worthwhile cause to which we could dedicate
support," said Hallam. "The
relationship we have formed with VOC will allow
the company to create a 'grassroots campaign' with
the organization and give our help to make a
real difference in the lives of thousands of
children."
In 2001, D1 Spas approached VOC suggesting that
it become the official beneficiary of a national
fundraising program that D1 Spas would launch
and support according to Sam Hardage, Chairman
of the Board of Directors of VOC.
The national fundraising campaign was launched
on October 25, 2002, at D1 Spas' 25th Anniversary
Celebration, where the company presented their
first check to VOC as a $75,000 donation.
"The relationship will assist VOC's goal
of eliminating childhood blindness through the
ongoing commitment and support of D1 Spas and
our D1 dealers. We want to help communicate
VOC's mission to our thousands of customers
locally, regionally, nationally and internationally,"
said Bob Hallam, President and CEO of Dimension
One Spas.
The first manufacturer to install Braille as
part of its state-of-the-art control panel, D1
Spas will help promote VOC by including information
in select consumer product packaging information. Additionally,
D1 Spas also will be distributing educational
materials to its extensive dealer network and
manufacturers' representatives.
D1 Spas also sells the CDs of world famous Andrea
Bocelli at participating dealers. All profits
are donated to VOC. Bocelli, who has been
blind since the age of 12, first teamed with
VOC several years ago, raising more the $300,000
to support research with the potential to benefit
hundreds of thousands of children around the
world.
"More than 20 babies are born each day into
certain blindness," said Hardage. "Some
will never see their mothers' smiles, while
others will grow up knowing that they will lose
sight in one or both eyes before the end of their
teens. VOC and D1 Spas are committed to
helping eradicate the major causes of childhood
blindness and vision disorders."
